EssiLux Reinforces Its Eco-Friendly Approach

On the occasion of World Oceans Day, celebrated on June 8, 2025, EssilorLuxottica announced its commitment to minimizing single-use plastic packaging across its global operations. As part of its sustainability program Eyes on Circularity, the company is increasing the use of recycled inputs while using innovative materials. With the integration of eco-design and investments in new technologies, it continues to actively make its processes more circular. EssilorLuxottica has also launched a global campaign on its corporate channels themed “Catalyzing Action for Our Ocean and Climate,” aiming to raise awareness about the importance of protecting marine environments and reducing waste in water resources. In addition, the company is running an internal communication campaign to involve all employees in its pledge to reduce single-use plastic packaging by 2030. Based on 2023 volumes, the company announced its target to reduce single-use plastic packaging in the B2C channel by 60% and in the B2B channel by 30% by 2030. Beyond packaging circularity, EssilorLuxottica is also implementing projects to evaluate and reduce material waste generated from frame and lens production processes.

Significant Acquisition by DEG

Design Eyewear Group is taking over full proprietary ownership of the brand Menrad, including its design rights and technical assets. This also includes licensing agreements with Jaguar, Joop! and Morgan. Date 2025 Sells Out Already

The Date fair, set to take place from September 13 to 15, 2025, at the iconic Cocoricò pyramid in Riccione, Italy, has officially sold out. Featuring more than 90 brands from countries including Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Switzerland, and the United States, the list of exhibitors is now available on Date’s official website. Starting this year, Date will adopt a brand-new, traveling format designed to reflect the transformations within the eyewear industry. The event will expand to different Italian cities such as Bologna, Naples, Rome, and Milan, aiming to offer a dynamic and inclusive experience. However, details about the nature of the events in these cities have not yet been disclosed. Date President Davide Degl’Incerti Tocci commented, “We introduced our new format with a striking presentation at Mido 2025. Our core pillars include vision, creativity, innovation, technology, and more. Completing our sales in just a few months was a significant milestone. The strong support we’ve received from exhibitors and partners confirms we are on the right path and encourages us to move forward with even greater motivation.” In addition, a Date Disco Party will be held on the evening of September 13 for all exhibitors and attendees.

Andy Wolf Expands AWearness

Andy Wolf is expanding its AWearness collection—first launched in 2021 with acetate frames—with the addition of new metal models and matching sun clips. These latest pieces are designed to be versatile, durable, and aesthetically refined. The new metal styles strike a balance between classic and contemporary design, while the acetate frames pay homage to Andy Wolf’s earliest collections. Thoughtfully crafted details—such as fine faceting, embossed textures, and custom-developed hinge systems—transform each frame into a three-dimensional design object.
