Modo’s Vision Centers Multiply

Modo Eyewear has announced that it has established 14 vision centres in India and Nepal over the last two years as part of their Buy a Frame, Help a Child See programme. In partnership with the Seva Foundation, they aim to address the critical issue of visual impairment, particularly in women and children who face barriers to accessing eyecare services. Research shows that 80% of a child’s learning is visually processed, making early intervention crucial. By providing local Vision Centres, Modo wishes to empower women to seek eyecare independently, promoting gender equality and enabling individuals to focus on education, work, and supporting their families. According to the company, the initiative will provide over 1 million individuals with access to sustainable, high-quality, and affordable eyecare services, including comprehensive eye exams and follow-up care. Modo Eyewear states that their support provides critical training, infrastructure, and equipment, enhancing the quality of life for individuals and communities in need.

The Italy Pavilion was in the Orlando

The Italy Pavilion, showcasing Italy’s eyewear manufacturing excellence in partnership with Anfao and the Italian Trade Agency, attracted great attention at the Vision Expo East, the optical fair held in Orlando, USA, at the end of last month. Bringing together 16 Italian companies from seven regions, the Italy Pavilion displayed the finest products that flawlessly carry the Made in Italy label. To support the Italy Pavilion at Vision Expo East, the desk for Mido Milano, one of the most important global eyewear trade shows, was also present. Mido attracted over 42,000 visitors this year, with a 9% increase in attendance and 1,200 exhibitors. Italy’s participation in Vision Expo East 2025 is part of Anfao and the Italian Trade Agency’s promotional strategy to strengthen the export of Italian SMEs to the U.S. market. Over the past three years, this strategy has been carried out through eyewear promotions in New York, Boston, Chicago, and Seattle, as well as group presence at Vision Expo East. According to Anfao’s preliminary data for 2024, the U.S. accounts for 22.2% of Italy’s eyewear sector exports.

Dsquared2 Unveils the Latest Models

Dsquared2 has unveiled special new sunglasses, designed, produced and distributed in partnership with Italian eyewear manufacturer, Safilo. The D2 0178/S men’s sunglasses are characterised by an edgy, ’70s-inspired squared shape in acetate. The front is bevelled and enhanced by a metal bridge with a double-depth shiny surface. The same detailing can be found on the angled tips and on the temples, that feature the Dsquared2 logo in high relief and the maple leaf detail on the end tips. The colour palette boasts combinations of black with grey shaded lenses, black/havana with brown lenses, crystal with blue shaded lenses. The D2 0184/G/S women’s sunglasses are sleek and on-trend, created in acetate with a flat-top shape, conveying a fashionable vibe. The front is decorated with the signature metal trims, while the temples are branded with the Dsquared2 metal trim logo and the subtle maple leaf on the end tips. The colour palette includes black with grey lenses and havana with nicotine lenses.
