Meaningful Award to Seiko

Seiko Optik won the first prize at the Clear Vision Conference organized by Hoya Vision Care, where dozens of projects from around the world competed, for our social responsibility and sustainability project with Unicef for ’empowering girls’. According to Unicef data, 129 million girls worldwide are out of school, including 32 million in primary school, 30 million in middle school and 67 million in high school. Although education participation rates in Turkey have increased since the early 2000s, there is still room for improvement. In the OECD report published in December, Turkey ranked among the lowest among the countries included in the report in terms of girls’ participation in education. For many years, Seiko has been delivering RX lenses to the end consumer, including in plastic envelopes containing plastic cleaning sprays and cleaning cloths. At the beginning of 2022, Seiko Optik converted the RX boxes into recycled kraft material, and by 2023, it completely removed the sprays from the boxes and made a donation to Unicef to empower girls in need.
