Off-White Designs Draw Strength from Contrast

Off-White presents a strong visual language in its new season eyewear campaign, bringing opposing elements into a single frame. Compositions surrounded by flowers set against urban backdrops of concrete, architecture and cityscapes clearly reflect the brand’s aesthetic approach. This visual construction goes beyond a stylistic choice, directly shaping the character of the designs within the collection. The frames stand out with bold and defined forms, moving away from soft lines. Oversized shield designs, sharp-edged square silhouettes and thick acetate structures form the core of the collection. These frames do more than complement the face, they actively transform its expression. Oversized models, in particular, draw attention with their architectural presence, often covering a large portion of the face. The use of floral elements in the campaign carries meaning beyond decoration. Representing softness, fragility and natural beauty, these elements create a deliberate contrast with the frames’ rigid, structural and urban character. This tension reflects Off-White’s signature approach of blurring the boundaries between feminine and masculine, organic and industrial.

Modo Unveils Its New Season Campaign

Modo introduces a new perspective on eyewear design with its latest campaign, “Dynamic Frequencies.” While the name may initially sound abstract, the concept is grounded in a clear idea: making visible the layered process behind the creation of a frame. The brand approaches eyewear not as a one-dimensional product, but as the result of a continuous interaction between design, material and structure. This approach is based on a holistic design philosophy in which every detail is interconnected. From hinge mechanisms to acetate thickness, from color selection to bridge width, each decision forms part of a unified system. Modo defines this process not as something static, but as a constantly evolving balance. By emphasizing this perspective, the brand sets itself apart from the industry’s common focus on single-feature claims. Rather than promoting isolated attributes such as “lightest” or “most durable,” Modo chooses to highlight how design comes together. This viewpoint elevates not only the final product but also the process behind it. With the “Dynamic Frequencies” campaign, Modo goes beyond presenting a collection, placing the design process at the core of its brand identity. This approach transforms eyewear from a simple product into a carefully considered and balanced system.

Italia Independent Delivers a Sensory Experience

Italia Independent introduces a tactile dimension to eyewear design with its Teddy collection. Inspired by the world of textiles, the series reinterprets conventional material perception through a plush coating applied to the frame surface. The sun styles combine bold silhouettes with a soft, textured finish, creating a striking contrast. This approach moves beyond the familiar feel of acetate or metal, offering a distinctly different user experience. The furry surface, felt upon touch, stands out as the collection’s most defining feature. Described by the brand as a “sensory experience,” this concept shapes the overall character of the collection. The color palette reinforces this tactile identity with rich, expressive tones. Vibrant red, deep blue and warm brown give each model a distinctive personality. Large and pronounced forms enhance the visual impact of the designs. The Teddy collection presents a strong option for those seeking to stand out in their style. This unconventional design language transforms eyewear into not only a visual but also a physical experience. With the Teddy collection, Italia Independent once again pushes the boundaries of design.

International Academic Project by Iku and Mooshu

Istanbul Kultur University crowned the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and the People’s Republic of China with an international project that highlights its academic strength and production capacity. The Opticianry Program at Iku Vocational School continues to expand vocational education beyond technical training, enriching it through global collaborations and interdisciplinary initiatives. Organized as part of the 55th anniversary celebrations, the event evolved into a remarkable academic success story through original eyewear designs created by opticianry students. Led by Lecturer Neslihan Gezer, the project brought student designs inspired by the historical legacy of the Silk Road to life through production by Mooshu Eyewear, founded by industry professional Kadir Cinemre. This collaboration, which unites academic vision with industrial expertise, enabled the collection to reach international standards in both aesthetics and technical quality. The opening ceremony was attended by Meifen Zhou, Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Ankara, Prof. Dr. Nebile Koruyucu, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Iku, and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özer, Director of the Vocational School. Distinguished guests also included Emmy Award winning producer Travis Fox and his wife Michelle, renowned fashion designer Muammer Ketenci, eyewear industry figure Hakan San, and prominent social media voice in opticianry Çağatay Gülümser. Guests examined the student designs, realized through the craftsmanship of Kadir Cinemre, and expressed strong appreciation for the project’s industry relevance and depth. Presented under the theme ‘Silk Road Fashion’, the collection featured a wide range of styles, from faceted designs to metal frames, all reflecting the shared cultural heritage of the two countries through refined technical details. Accompanied by a performance from the National Orchestra of Nanjing University, the event demonstrated that opticianry extends beyond healthcare, emerging as both an international language of communication and a form of craftsmanship. As one of the project’s key outcomes, two students who stood out with their work were invited to China to further develop their professional vision. This initiative is expected to provide valuable exposure to global market dynamics and enable students to return to Türkiye with a broader and more forward looking perspective on the optical industry. In its official statement, Istanbul Kultur University emphasized that, under the coordination of Lecturer Neslihan Gezer and with the support of industry partners, it will continue preparing its students for the future of the optical world.
