l.a.Eyeworks has introduced a special limited edition of its Button frame to honour the memory of co-founder and designer Gai Gherardi. Produced in a run of just 100 pieces, the distinctive yellow edition will support the Gai Gherardi Fellowship, established by the New York-based nonprofit Art Matters. The custom colourway was among the last designs personally developed by Gherardi before her passing in 2025. While Art Matters created the fellowship to celebrate Gherardi’s longstanding dedication to supporting artists during her many years on the foundation’s board, l.a.Eyeworks is using the project to highlight the enduring connection between art and design. Crafted from pure titanium in Japan, each individually numbered frame is presented with a specially designed case and cleaning cloth created by the artist duo Huntley Muir. The limited edition also stands as a tribute to the brand’s creative legacy and its close relationship with the art world since 1979. More than preserving Gai Gherardi’s longstanding commitment to emerging artists, the initiative also carries forward l.a.Eyeworks’ creative identity, shaped through decades of exhibitions, commissioned projects, and collaborations with artists.
