Marcolin Buys ic! berlin

Marcolin finalized the acquisition of ic! berlin, an independent eyewear manufacturer established in Berlin in 1996. A multi-award-winning company for the design of its creations ic! berlin carries out in-house design, prototyping, manufacturing and assembling of its luxury sunglasses and optical frames. Marcolin takes full control of the Company, integrating within its organization approximately 140 employees located at the Berlin headquarters, and manufacturing plant, and in two subsidiaries in Japan and United States. The acquisition is part of Marcolin’s strategy of enhancing its expertise in metal manufacturing and broadening its luxury portfolio, a segment with huge potential, while also strengthening its market positioning in key areas, such as Asia and Europe. ic! berlin officially becomes one of Marcolin’s house brands, along with Web Eyewear, strengthening a strategic segment for the company.

Lool Inspires by Art

Lool Eyewear, the technical segment brand of the Etnia Eyewear Culture Group, has launched 2023 Autumn/Winter collection inspired by contemporary art. Lacoste and Venus Williams Collaboration

Lacoste unveiled its new Active line of sunglasses with celebrity brand ambassador, fashion and sports icon Venus Williams. Lacoste’s cat-eye shaped sunglasses for women, L6013S, fully embrace the Dna of the Active line. Made from bio-injected plastic, the model is available in chic transparent colors and features thick stems bearing the large Lacoste logo. Presented in the ad campaign in opaline nude, the model is also available in transparent form in gray, brown, purple and black.

Award in Cooperation with Unicef

At the Clear Vision Conference organized by Hoya Vision Care, where projects from other countries also took part, we won first place with our social responsibility and sustainability project with Unicef for ’empowering girls’. Hoya started to develop its sustainability policy at the beginning of 2022. With 2023, Hoya donated to Unicef for the empowerment of girls in need by completely removing sprays from cans and has supported a total of 1,494 girls so far.

Myopia Progression Slows Down

According to the World Health Organization’s 2020 estimates, about 30% of the world’s population is myopic and by 2050, half of the world’s population will be affected by myopia. Hoya introduces Miyosmart, which slows the rate of myopia progression in children by 60%. The Myosmart lens is based on the revolutionary Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments (D.I.M.S.). This technology was developed in collaboration with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2014. Myosmart with D.I.M.S. technology corrects visual impairment over its entire surface to slow the rate of myopia progression.
