Modo Eyewear has announced that it has established 14 vision centres in India and Nepal over the last two years as part of their Buy a Frame, Help a Child See programme. In partnership with the Seva Foundation, they aim to address the critical issue of visual impairment, particularly in women and children who face barriers to accessing eyecare services. Research shows that 80% of a child’s learning is visually processed, making early intervention crucial. By providing local Vision Centres, Modo wishes to empower women to seek eyecare independently, promoting gender equality and enabling individuals to focus on education, work, and supporting their families. According to the company, the initiative will provide over 1 million individuals with access to sustainable, high-quality, and affordable eyecare services, including comprehensive eye exams and follow-up care. Modo Eyewear states that their support provides critical training, infrastructure, and equipment, enhancing the quality of life for individuals and communities in need.
