EssilorLuxottica officially launched its Nuance Audio Glasses in the U.S. at a launch event held at Hero NYC in Rockefeller Center. Nuance Audio technology, an invisible, open-ear hearing solution, combines sound engineering and eyewear design to create glasses aimed at supporting those with mild to moderate hearing loss. It is also the first FDA-approved product in the U.S. that is a medical device with preset software. The event opened with a sensory experience featuring video and sound that evoked a cutting-edge art installation. Stefano Genco, President of Nuance Audio, said, “For the first time in our history, we are distributing our Nuance Audio product not only in our retail network and independent optical stores but also in the hearing industry. We are signing agreements with both big companies and small independent ones. From the beginning, we thought our innovation was not just for the eyewear industry, but for everyone.” EssilorLuxottica had announced in February that it had received FDA approval and CE marking under the medical devices regulation in the European Union. According to the company’s announcement, the glasses will also be available in certain European countries such as Italy, France, Germany, and the U.K. in the first half of 2025.
