EssilorLuxottica has announced the opening of a new research and development center in Lat Krabang, Thailand. The approximately 5,000 square meter facility is located near the company’s manufacturing operations in the region. The center will serve as a strategic hub for ophthalmic lens materials and manufacturing technologies. EssilorLuxottica aims to bring together the entire value chain, from advanced materials research to industrial process development, within the new facility. Chief Operating Officer Davide Schinetti said the center will strengthen the integration between research and manufacturing activities. The company also plans to expand its research efforts in wearable and medical technologies through the new hub. Pierre Fromentin, Head of Chemistry and Materials Technology at EssilorLuxottica, noted that the center will help accelerate the transition of new materials from the laboratory to production. The facility was designed to speed up innovation cycles and technology development. Sustainability focused air management systems have also been incorporated into the center. EssilorLuxottica stated that the facility is targeting LEED environmental certification.
